The Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Cell in the institute promotes students' particular interests in the reserved category. It guides the students to utilise the benefits of the schemes offered by the Government. The SC/ST cell in CIMAT, Coimbatore, adheres to the UGC and state government guidelines concerning the upliftment of the students and employees belonging to the SC/ST categories and other weaker classes. They are also encouraged to enrol on career orientation programs, which would equip them with the necessary skills to choose a career option.

OBJECTIVES.

✓ Ensure the protection of employees and students from sexual harassment.

✓ To provide particular inputs in areas where the students experience difficulties.

✓ Organise interactive sessions and informal meetings with students to address their personal, social and academic problems.

✓ To conduct/coordinate training programmes for students in life skills and personality development to help in their placement.

✓ To review follow up measures taken to achieve the objectives and targets laid down by the Govt. of India and the UGC.

✓ To circulate State Govt. and UGC’s decisions about different scholarship programs.

✓ To communicate with the students and motivate them for better future planning.

✓ To facilitate SC/ST students to avail of the Scholarships offered by the Government.

✓ To conduct remedial coaching classes for the students (priority to SC/ST) for their academic improvement.

✓ To constitute the “Caste Based Discrimination Monitoring Committee” to execute the functions and achieve the objectives of the SC/ST Cell.

Term: The term of the nominated members shall be three years.

Meeting: The CBDC shall meet at least twice a year or when necessary.
