Dr. P. Natarajan, Academic Director, CIMAT, was the Head of the training division of the National Textile Corporation (NTC) for nearly 18 years, and in Anna University, Chennai before that with a long experience of nearly 34 years in teaching and training, he leads CIMAT in its growth path. He has M.A. in Psychology, M.B.A. and PhD in behavioral sciences. With this combination of psychology and management he has brought a unique perspective to CIMAT. His areas of specialization are behavioral science, human resource management and small business management.

He has served on the Faculty of Anna University, Madras, P.S.G. College of Technology, Coimbatore and Madras University, Chepauk Campus. He is in the policy making body of several Universities and educational institutions. As member of the governing council of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore, NIFT-TEA, Tirupur, Dr.G.R.Damodharan College of Sciences, Coimbatore, Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science (KKCAS), Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Information Technology (CIET), Saraswathi Thiagarajar College and several other self-financing colleges, he has been instrumental to their growth and excellence.

Dr. P. Natarajan served on the Board of Directors of NTC (TN &P) Ltd. He was the Honorary Vice President and Honorary Secretary of Coimbatore Management Association. He is a member of the Governing body of both the Coimbatore Management Association and Coimbatore Productivity Council. He was also a Director of the Coimbatore Stock Exchange. He is also a member of the planning board of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

His expertise and experience attracted him to serve as Expert member of AICTE, New Delhi, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and NAAC. He is an institution builder. He was instrumental for formation of M.B.A. Department in Anna University, Chennai and several National level management development programmes in NTC Staff College where his service as its Principal was long and widely appreciated. Currently he heads CIMAT with a clear vision and mission.
